FI Management & Administration

AFI Board and Associates

AFI is overseen by a Board of Directors, which is composed of experienced elected volunteers from amongst the member companies. Day to day management and administration is undertaken by AFI’s support team.

Adam Binns (Chair), Nick Dybeck (Vice Chair), John Smith (Treasurer), Mark Copeland, Alan Cunningham, Steve Whittle, Gary MacGregor, Cameron Glanvill, Dominique Stevenson, Chris Hackett and Sally Green.

Management Team

Ian Ripley, Robert Osborne and Jennifer Shail.

Board Composition

The Board should have no more than 10 members (including the Chief Executive). The collective experience within the Board should be representative of both the AFI membership and the fencing industry generally. The Board is responsible for the ongoing review of the relevance and effectiveness of existing services; implementation of new services; agreeing the operational plan and budget for each year; setting the subscription levels and ensuring the effective governance and operation of the association.

Sub Groups and Committee Responsibilities

The sub groups Association of Safety Fencing Contractors (ASFC), Electric Security Fencing Federation (ESFF) and Environmental Noise Barrier Association (ENBA) report through the Directors and assist in the delivery of services to the membership.

Meetings, Term of Office and Remuneration

The Board meets four times a year roughly centrally in the UK. Generally each Director may also represent the association on one or more industry group meetings e.g. BSi, CSCS, Build UK etc. Each Board Member may serve for a period of two years and are eligible for re-election at the AGM. Board and Committee members are volunteers and these are unpaid roles.

AFI is looking for suitably experienced volunteers to assist its management by joining a Committee or the Board. If you or someone within your organisation is able and willing to make a positive contribution to the running of the AFI, then please get in touch by Email, phone or post.
